Ingredients
2¼ cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup (225 g) butter, softened
¾ cup (150 g) sugar
¾ cup (165 g) packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups (340 g) chocolate chips
Method
Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
Mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
Beat the butter with both sugars until creamy, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour mixture, then the chocolate chips.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on the sheets.
Bake 9 to 11 minutes, until golden at the edges but still soft in the middle. Cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then on a rack.
Tip: Chill the dough for an hour (or a day) for thicker, more flavourful cookies.
Cups and spoons are US measures (1 cup = 240 ml); weights and °C are given alongside. Cook meat to a safe inside temperature.
